- Breakers that trip often or feel warm.
- No open spaces left for a new circuit, or double-tapped breakers.
- A Federal Pacific Stab-Lok, Zinsco or other panel with a known history of breakers that fail to trip.
- Rust, scorch marks, a burning smell or buzzing from the panel.
- You're adding something big: an EV charger, a hot tub, a shop, a generator or a kitchen remodel.
Replacement vs. service upgrade
A panel replacement swaps an old or unsafe panel for a new one at the same size. A service upgrade raises the amps coming into the house, for example 100 to 200 amps, and usually includes a new meter base and work with the utility. We'll tell you which one you actually need. Plenty of homes only need a replacement or a subpanel, not a full upgrade.
How it goes
We pull the permit, schedule the disconnect with your utility (Oncor or CoServ), and swap the panel in one day in most cases. Power is off for part of that day. Every circuit gets labeled when we're done, and the city inspects before the utility restores permanent service where required.
Whole-home surge protection
A surge protector at the panel helps protect the electronics in your fridge, AC, washer and TV from spikes coming in on the line. It's a small add-on during a panel job, and code now requires it on many new and replaced services.

Questions we get
How long does a panel replacement take?
Most are done in one working day. Service upgrades that need utility work can take a little longer depending on the utility's schedule.
Is a Federal Pacific panel really dangerous?
Federal Pacific Stab-Lok breakers have a long record of failing to trip under overload. Not every one fails, but most electricians and many insurance companies recommend replacing them.
Do I need a bigger panel for an EV charger?
Often not. A load calculation tells us. Many 200 amp homes have room, and load-sharing chargers help on tighter panels.
Will I need a permit?
Yes. Panel replacements and service upgrades require a permit and inspection. We handle both.
