Portable generator inlet and interlock
We install a weatherproof inlet outside and an interlock kit on your panel. During an outage you plug your portable generator into the inlet, flip the main off and the generator breaker on, and run the circuits you pick: fridge, furnace blower, lights, outlets, internet. It's the most affordable way to back up your home, and it's the safe way. Running a generator through an extension cord into a dryer outlet can kill a lineman down the street.
Standby generator
A permanent natural gas generator with an automatic transfer switch. When the power drops, it starts by itself in seconds and runs the whole house or the circuits you choose. We handle the electrical side and coordinate with a licensed plumber for the gas line.
Sizing it right
The right size depends on what you want running. A portable setup covering essentials needs far less than a whole-home standby running two AC units. We'll walk through your list and size it so you don't overpay or overload.
Permits
Inlets, interlocks and standby generators all need a permit in most DFW cities. We pull it and handle the inspection.

Questions we get
How much does a generator inlet and interlock cost?
It's much less than a standby generator. Price depends on the distance from the panel to where the generator sits outside. Text us a photo of your panel and the outside wall for a quote.
Can a portable generator run my AC?
Only a large one, and usually only a smaller AC unit. Most portable setups focus on heat, the fridge, lights and outlets.
Do you sell generators?
For standby units we can supply and install. For portable setups, most customers already have a generator or buy one, and we make sure it has the right outlet for the inlet.
Is backfeeding through a dryer outlet okay?
No. It's illegal and dangerous. An inlet with an interlock is the safe, code-approved way to do it.
